All the students who do not fall under exemption category should undertake some form of testing. This can be either tests conducted by English language testing organizations for Assessment risk level 3 or above students. In this case, refer to the table of acceptable English language test and the required scores.

Or

LLN assessment test conducted by the RTO for students coming from Assessment risk level 2 countries. Acceptable scores will be determined based on the AQF level of the qualification.

Who is exempt from providing evidence of English Language proficiency for student visa purposes only?2019-10-03T08:25:27+00:00

a) an applicant who is a citizen of, and who holds a valid passport issued by:
i. the United Kingdom;
ii. the United States of America;
iii. Canada;
iv. New Zealand; or
v. the Republic of Ireland; or

b) an applicant who is enrolled in a principal course of study that is:
i. registered to be delivered in a language other than English;
ii. a registered ELICOS course, as defined in regulation 1.03 of the Regulations;
iii. a registered school course; or
iv. a registered post-graduate research course; or

c) an applicant who is a:
(i) Foreign Affairs student;
(ii) Defence Student; or
(iii) Secondary exchange student; or

d) an applicant, who, in the 2 years before applying for a Subclass 500 (Student) visa, has successfully completed:
i. the requirements for a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education, in a course that was conducted in Australia and in English; or
ii. a substantial component of a course leading to a qualification from the Australian Qualifications Framework at the Certificate IV level or higher that was conducted in Australia and in English, while the applicant was holding a student visa; or

e) an applicant who has successfully completed a minimum of 5 years of study in English undertaken in one or more of the following countries;
i. Australia;
ii. Canada;
iii. New Zealand;
iv. South Africa;

Students can either apply by visiting the college and filling in the relevant application forms which is available at the college or visit our college website.For students choosing to apply through an Agent they can also avail this facility and can apply for the desired courses. These courses can be packaged to offer an academic pathway if they are looking for a future in their education

After submitting my application, what are the other processes involved before finalizing my enrolment before issuing me with a CoE?2018-06-27T06:36:42+00:00

After completing the application process, we then require you to submit all documents which are clearly mentioned in the application form. The next step will be to generate an offer letter which should be signed and accepted by the student. After signing the offer letter and initial fees are paid the CoE will be generated

Acumens’ policy states that we can only refund the tuition fees. This will also be subject to those fees that is unused.

The student will have to request for an extension through a request form and would normally be granted an extension if the case is genuine. However, if the student fails to notify the college then a breach letter notice will be sent to the student for not paying his fees on time and not informing the college regarding his late payment

Student will be charged a $200 fee for each unit and  they have to go through an application process prior to gaining approval.

When conducting the various programs, does Acumen Education guarantee student rights and fairness are adhered to? How is this maintained?2018-06-27T06:30:37+00:00

All students irrespective of their age, disability, colour, race, gender, religion, sexuality, family responsibilities, or location are welcomed to study at our college. The college staff, trainers and assessors adhere to the principles and practices of providing student with equal rights and are treated with fairness in the provision of education and training services.

For international student who are coming from overseas for the first time to enrol at Acumen Education, are there adequate support services provided at the college prior to their enrolment? Our student services provide range of services which ensures all students coming for the first time have a detailed understanding of the college and about the life in Australia. A detailed orientation program is also conducted which provides them with detailed information and support both in personal life and with their studies.

Acumen Education maintains records of attendance. Even though we do not follow the attendance based policy we insist that the students come regularly and that their attendance is linked to their academic performance

How does the college deal with students who do not attend classes regularly?2018-06-27T06:29:49+00:00

Students who are not coming regularly are reported by the Trainers. This information is then passed on to their course Student Support Officer (SSO). They in turn contact their student and conduct a counselling session with them and advise them regarding their irregularities.

Every student is given a time table outlining the units he has to complete in a given time frame. This continued progress is closely monitored until the student completes all units within that time frame.

Acumen Education tracks a student’s academic progress via “TEAMS” which is their student management database. This clearly highlights the progress of the student and is closely monitored through a clearly designed process and policy.

It completely depends on the course; a unit may contain written and practical tasks, case study, projects, presentations, tests, and exams.

Is it mandatory to finish all of the assessments in order to pass a particular unit? Will there be any exemptions?2018-06-27T06:28:06+00:00

Yes you need to obtain a pass grade or “C” which means competent in every assessment to pass the unit. No exemptions are allowed.

If I do not clear a particular unit and am marked as “NYC”, what will be consequences? Will I be given another chance?2018-06-27T06:27:52+00:00

You will then have one more opportunity to correct and/or submit you work before the end of the term at no extra cost if you have been marked “NYC” in any of the assessment tasks.

It is the main stream/course of study. This basically means that the highest program in a package of courses.

During the mid of my course if I need to withdraw from a particular course and join another educational institute will Acumen Education provide me with a release letter? What are the conditions that would apply and under what circumstance will I be given this letter?2018-06-27T06:27:26+00:00

a) You have a valid offer letter from another educational institution
b) It may not be in the best interest of the student. In other words you are asked to take a transfer
c) If there are no outstand fees and complaints or appeal against you.

You will not have to pay any fees for issuing you a release letter.

What is means basically if you wish to postpone the commencement of a course of study “prior to the start” of a new academic term it is known as Deferment.

No. Suspending or postponing your studies may occur at any time during an academic term or a study period.

I would like to apply for a deferment or a suspension of studies. How do I go about requesting for this and to whom should I speak to? Under what situation can I avail this?2018-06-27T06:26:18+00:00

You can apply through student support services by filling in the relevant forms and submitting the relevant documents. The two major circumstances as stated under the provision of The National Code 2007 Standard 13,
a) Compassionate or compelling circumstances (for example, illness where a medical certificate states that the student is unable to attend classes); or
b) Misbehaviour by the student

As an international student, I have been granted a deferment/suspension of my studies can I remain in Australia during this period?2018-06-27T06:25:57+00:00

If your leave of absence, deferral, or suspension of studies is approved for 28 days or longer, DIAC requirement states that you should leave Australia (unless there are exceptional circumstances). As an international student, you must:

  • Remain offshore for the duration of your leave (if it is longer than 28 days); and
  • Return no more than one month prior to the commencement of your next term/semester
Due to compelling reasons I would like to apply for a ‘Leave of Absence’ during my course. Can I do this while in Australia?2018-06-27T06:25:43+00:00

Yes. A leave of absence can be granted to you on compassionate grounds for a maximum duration of two weeks as per Acumen Educations Deferral, Suspension, and Cancellation of Enrolment Policy.

Does Acumen Education have the right to cancel or suspend a student’s enrolment? What will be the major reasons for doing so?2018-06-27T06:25:30+00:00

Yes Acumen Management may suspend or cancel a student enrolment on certain grounds including;

  • Non-commencement of studies while on-shore and absence for a period of 28 days or longer without prior approval from the college
  • Breach of Student Code of Conduct or due to any disciplinary reasons where the student’s offence is clearly established and the appeal process has been exhausted
  • Non-payment of tuition fees
  • Unsatisfactory course progress
  • Student misbehaviour
  • Breach of Student Agreement conditions
