Description
This course is designed to train students in light vehicle mechanics to develop their skills. Students will acquire knowledge on how to diagnose and repair complex faults in various systems’ parts of the automobile. This course will help you develop your skills in servicing and repairing complex faults in petrol engines, various types of engine management systems, transmission and driveline systems, steering and suspension systems, and braking systems.
This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to perform advanced diagnostic operations in the automotive retail, service and repair environment. The Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis provides advanced training for automotive technicians who want to further develop their diagnostic and technical skills.
Entry Requirements
Duration
This course is scheduled to be delivered over 22 weeks of full time study – 20 hours per week face to face. Delivery (Theory & Practical) and assessment takes place in fully equipped classrooms and in house workshop. Students need to gain competency in 10 units (1 core unit and 9 elective units) to successfully complete this course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Learners with prior learning and work experience can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Learners who have completed corresponding units of competency and/or units contained within the packaging rules can apply for Credit Transfer.
Assessment Methods
Assessment is structured throughout the course. If learners are unable to achieve competency, additional support is provided through mentoring and access to re-assessment as outlined in the acumen ’s policies and procedures.
Assessment is carried out through a range of tasks like written assessments, practical assessments (observations)
