Changes in English Language requirements

Effective 1st Oct 2019

From 1 October 2019, education providers are required to enter additional information regarding an overseas student’s English Language proficiency for student visa purposes.

These amendments to the Education Services for Overseas Students Regulations 2019 (Regulations) require providers to seek additional information from their overseas student in order to identify whether the student was exempt from undertaking an English Language test or where an approved English test was taken – record the name, score and date of that test. The implemented changes to PRISMS are designed to enable providers to meet these requirements when creating or updating a saved/pending confirmation of enrolment (CoE).

Where a student does not have an applicable exemption or has not taken an approved English test for student visa purposes, education providers should enter whether they have used, or will use, other means to ensure the student has, or will have, met the English language requirements for their course.

Please refer the following table for some frequently asked questions.
