Welfare related services are generally services which address the mental, physical, social and spiritual well-being of students. These services may include, through direct provision or referral, information/advice about:  accommodation, counselling, crisis services, disabilities and equity issues, financial matters, legal issues, medical issues, mental health, peer mentoring, programmes promoting social interaction, religious and spiritual matters, and stress-management.

If you’re not happy for any reason, whether it’s something affecting you in or outside the college we offer private one-to-one counselling to help you. Homestay

Acumen can help set students up in homestay accommodation for when they arrive in Australia. Homestay allow students to stay with an Australian household and is a great way to get a bit of a feel for the local Australian culture. Homestay costs will cover accommodation, breakfast and dinner and can often include internet access. Acumen also offers airport pickup to take you directly to your homestay home. We have families in many different locations around Melbourne, always within 30 minutes of the CBD.

Job Assistance

Students studying in Australia may be eligible to work part-time in order to support themselves during their stay and as a way to earn some extra money. If you were granted a Student visa on or after 26 April 2008, you and your dependent family members will already have Permission to Work automatically included with your visa. Insurance Assistance

Individuals studying in Australia on a student visa are required to have private health insurance for the duration of their stay.
