Description
This qualification is suitable for the role of individuals who use sound knowledge of industry operations and a broad range of managerial skills to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions.
Students with this qualification have a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector as a departmental or small business manager. The diversity of employers includes restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. This qualification allows for multi-skilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming
Students successfully completing the course will receive the Nationally Recognised SIT50416 Diploma of Hospitality Management qualification.
Entry Requirements
Duration
Total duration for this qualification is 64 weeks of full time study including breaks. Students study 20 hours per week face to face for 54 weeks without breaks. Students need to gain competency in 28 units (13 core units and 15 elective units) to complete this course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer – Learners with prior learning and work experience can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning. Learners who have completed corresponding units of competency and/or units contained within the packaging rules can apply for Credit Transfer.
Assessment Methods
Teaching is conducted in the classroom as well as in training kitchen when required to simulate real work environment. The delivery may include face to face teaching, lectures, discussions, field trips, research, learning activities, group work, and supervised practical sessions. Students undertaking this course will also have access to Training Kitchen and Restaurant at 101 Glengala Road, Sunshine West, VIC 3020, Australia.
Assessments comprise of written assignments and project works.
