Streamlined Visa Processing – SVP

Acumen Education has been approved to participate in the Australian Government’s Streamlined Visa Processing (SVP) initiative that was instigated on the 23rd of November 2014 by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

Acumen Education believes that the initiative will benefit many international students by streamlining the visa application process, in terms of the documentation required and, therefore, the length of time it takes a visa to be issued.

Acumen Education always strived towards providing students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds with an excellent academic experience in order to promote student success. Acumen Education understands that if the students are guided correctly in the initial stage, it would bring them considerable social and economic benefits down the track. Therefore, we at Acumen Education understand that, in the implementation of the SVP arrangement, the ultimate responsibility of recruiting good quality students and to guide them to a secure future lies with the institute and its representatives.

SVP arrangement provides an opportunity for the students to access quicker, simpler visa processing particularly from Visa Assessment Level 3 countries.

If you are from Visa Assessment Level 3 countries and wish to apply for an SVP approved course or a packaged course, you must submit your application through Acumen Education’s authorised agents in your home country.

Acumen Educations agent in your home country will assist you with the application and guide you through the streamlined visa process. You are required to attend an interview with Acumen Education’s administration staff after we receive your application.

You can commence your course at a lower level such as Certificate IV or Diploma, as long as your highest level is at Advanced Diploma level. When you apply for a packaged course, you will receive a student visa for the whole period of your study.

Please note: Make an informed decision on what course you would like to choose at Acumen Education. Once your student visa is approved in SVP arrangement, changing course will not be an easy step. Changing providers will be a hard task and could lead to visa cancellations when done in an inappropriate manner. It is strongly advised that you discuss your intention and your course selection with Acumen Education’s authorised representative before making a decision to opt for a streamlined visa.

Frequently asked questions – about SVP

Streamlined Visa Processing (SVP) is an initiative that was implemented on 23rd November 2014 by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

Under this initiative, the Department will assess all student visa applicants who are eligible for SVP as though they were a low immigration risk (similar to the current Assessment Level 1), regardless of their country of origin. This reduces the amount of documentation required and the length of time it takes to issue the student visa. However acumen education, will conduct its assessment of the prospective student to ensure that the student meets

  • Genuine temporary entry requirement;
  • Student has sufficient sources of funds to ensure successful completion of the course
  • And that student has suitable level of English proficiency.
Applicants for standalone or package offers of advance diploma level courses are eligible to participate in SVP. The SVP process will apply to both self-funded and sponsored students.
Those not eligible for Streamlined Visa Processing include applicants for:
  • Short courses
  • Vocational courses lower than the level of advance diploma are not eligible. However the lower level course packaged with the advance diploma level courses are eligible.
  •  As a result of acumen educations participation in SVP, acumen education is required to ensure that students who enrol are Genuine Students and have access to sufficient funds to support themselves and any accompanying dependents during their studies. Acumen education also assesses the English proficiency of the student to ensure that students English standard is adequate for them to complete the qualification that they are enrolled in successfully.

To achieve this, acumen education will require applicants who receive an offer for an SVP-eligible program to read and sign a Streamlined Visa Processing Declaration form and submit it to acumen education as part of their acceptance package.

Once any outstanding conditions of a student’s offer have been met, and the tuition fee deposit and OSHC, and signed Acceptance form and SVP declaration have been received, acumen education can issue the Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).

This process will apply whether you are a self-funded student or a sponsored student. Please note, however, that Australia Award recipients are not eligible for SVP.

Acumen education’s application process is stringent and steadfast to ensure that student obtaining enrolment at acumen education have made a decision that is right for their future career and are the prerequisites are met to ensure that the student completes the qualification they are enrolled in successfully.

If you were granted a visa under the streamlined visa processing arrangements, you must stay enrolled in a streamlined visa processing eligible program with an education provider participating in the arrangements. For further information, visit the Department of Immigration and Border Protection’s webpage about how changing programs will affect streamlined visa holders.

Important: If you enrol to study with an education provider that is not participating in the streamlined visa processing arrangements, you no longer meet the criteria for which your visa was granted and may be considered for visa cancellation.

Additional responsibilities listed in the acceptance agreement of the students have to be met to ensure that the student does not violate their student visa conditions.

The ‘SVP Declaration’, or, if appropriate, the ‘SVP and Sanctions Declaration’, is included in the Offer that is made to applicants.
